Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care under the supervision of RNs and LPNs. The role emphasizes patient observation, vital signs collection, and safe transportation in a busy hospital setting.

Responsibilities include infection control, documentation in the EMR, and adherence to standards of care. A High School Diploma and CPR certification are required, with options for a signing bonus and a 36-hour weekly schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Current CPR certification, CPR/BLS within 30 days if not certified.
• Must meet at least one of the nursing assistant qualifications listed.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under RN/LPN supervision.
• Observe patients at risk for injury and report changes.
• Obtain and report vital signs, pulse oximetry, non-invasive BP.
• Perform glucose testing and EKGs as indicated.
• Transport patients safely and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Document data in electronic medical records and follow infection control practices.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)

Current CPR certification

CPR/BLS within 30 days if not certified

Nursing assistant experience (1 year)

Nursing assistant training program

Current CNA certification

MRMC nursing assistant training program
