Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a Nursing Assistant to support daily patient care under RN supervision. You will assist with bathing, feeding, mobility, and safety checks, while accurately documenting in the EMR and helping maintain a clean, organized unit.

This role requires basic computer skills, good communication, and adherence to infection control standards. GED or HS diploma are required, with ongoing hospital certification upkeep.

• Team members will maintain annual educational requirements for hospital based certifications (e.g. DNV, CARF or others).

Responsibilities

• Assists RN with daily care of patients including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders and ambulation.
• Measures and documents blood pressures, TPRs, I&O, daily weights, and other patient data in EMR.
• Performs purposeful rounding under direction of RN and communicates observations and needs to RN.
• Participates in admission, transfer and discharge process under supervision of RN.
• Collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens and performs point-of-care testing as indicated.
• Completes errands including pickup/delivery of trays, charts, specimens, and reports; maintains stock in nursing area.
• Performs patient positioning and transporting duties with proper technique and assistive devices.
• Maintains skin integrity; provides supplies like TED hose and SCDs.
• May remove IVs, provide post-mortem care, and bladder scans as directed by RN.
• Adheres to infection prevention policies; proper hand hygiene and sterile procedures.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate care for patients across lifespan.
