Job summary

Hermitage Three Chopt is seeking a Part Time Night CNA/RMA to provide routine resident care, medication administration, and ADL support. The role requires Virginia CNA certification and registration as an RMA, CPR/AED, and insulin training.

You will document care and respond to resident needs within a licensed long-term care setting. The position offers a night shift with alternating weekends, a fast-paced environment, and emphasis on resident independence and safety.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an approved certified Nursing Assistant Program.
  • CNA certification in Virginia and RMA certification required.
  • CPR/AED certification required.
  • Medication training program including insulin module and VA code compliance.
  • Experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Respect resident rights regarding medications and confidentiality.
  • Respond to emergencies and health concerns promptly.
  • Identify medication terminology and abbreviations.
  • Follow standard precautions and infection control policies.
  • Document care provided in medical records and ensure HIPAA compliance.
  • Assist with ADLs and medication administration as directed.

Three Chopt CNA/RMA Part Time Night

Part Time. 11pm - 7am (Night shift). Alternating weekends only.

Two-week rotating schedule:

Week 1: Saturday, Sunday

Week 2: Friday, Monday

Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:

Provides routine resident services using effective, outcome focused services, such as medication and treatment procedures including charting, nourishment, activities of daily living (ADL’s), etc. Documents services and responds to resident needs. Must be licensed in the state of Virginia as a Registered Medication Aide and a Certified Nurse Aide. The Medication Aide provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living for residents of the community as well as assists with the administration of prescribed medications within the established scope of practice. The Medication Aide encourages all residents to function at their highest level of independence and to participate in community activities.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
  1. Graduate from an approved certified Nursing Assistant Program.
  2. Certified as a Nursing Assistant in Virginia (CNA) and Register Medication Aide (RMA) REQUIRED.
  3. CPR/AED certification required.
  4. Graduate of a medication training program, including insulin module and meet 54.1-34-8 Code of Virginia Requirement.
  5. Experience preferred.
Job Duties
  1. Understands the implications of resident rights regarding medications, treatment decisions and confidentiality.
  2. Recognize emergencies and other health-threatening conditions and respond accordingly.
  3. Identify medication terminology and abbreviations.
  4. Implement standard precautions.
  5. Cleans and disinfects as needed.
  6. Properly dispose of infectious waste according to state law.
  7. Review administration records and Doctor’s orders.
  8. Maintain resident medical records while abiding by HIPAA policies and procedures. Facilitate resident awareness of medication purpose and effects.
  9. Demonstrate the five rights of medication administration.
  10. Follow policy for medication administration. Measure and record vital signs, as indicated.
  11. Assist resident to administer oral medications and documentation of medication administration.
  12. Report to charge nurse and document a resident’s refusal to take medication.
  13. Document medication errors.
  14. Store and secure all medications.
  15. Maintain an inventory of medications.
  16. Dispose of medications according to pharmacy guidelines.
  17. If needed, assist residents to administer medications and treatments.
  18. Assist with ADLs as needed.
  19. Document care provided in medical record.
  20. Attends mandatory in-service education and completes Relias Learning in-services.
  21. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Basic conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures within medication and nursing assistance, typically acquired through certified program.
  2. Basic verbal and written communication skills required.
  3. Demonstrates working knowledge of common medical processes and treatments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
  1. May include frequent lifting (up to 50lbs).
  2. Extensive walking, bending, stooping, standing.
  3. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks.
  4. Ability to work inside and outside to effectively make rounds daily throughout the facility and to respond to problems and emergencies.
  5. Ability to lift and move residents.
  6. Universal staffing, holiday, inclement weather, and a flexible work schedule are required in health services to meet the needs of the job.
  7. Exposure to the sights, sounds and odors of a typical long-term care and health care environment serving senior citizens, some with dementia.
