Job summary

Salem Health Hospitals & Clinics in Salem, Oregon is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant for our Medical Surgical Unit. The position is full time, 36 hours per week, non-exempt, with a 7:00 am–7:30 pm schedule (three 12-hour shifts) at Salem Hospital.

As a CNA you will assist with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, document clearly, and collaborate with nurses and providers to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Certified in the State of Oregon to practice as a CNA.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Completes personal care on each patient as directed by plan of care, including policies and procedures, without continual direct supervision.
• Accurately performs skills per policy and procedure.
• Documents pertinent patient information concisely and legibly using acceptable medical terminology and abbreviation on all assigned patients.
• Monitors and record vital signs, reporting changes to the nursing team.
• Supports nurses and healthcare staff in delivering personalized, high-quality care.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and healing environment for patients and families.
• Provides emotional support and compassionate care during vulnerable moments.

Your role with us

As a certified nursing assistant (CNA) at Salem Health, you play a vital role in delivering compassionate, hands on care during some of the most vulnerable moments in a patient’s life. You’ll assist with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, and collaborate closely with nurses and providers to ensure safe, personalized care. Our four medical surgical units care for a highly diverse patient population with diagnoses such as heart failure, sepsis, renal and respiratory failure, COVID-19, and complex co morbidities. This setting offers CNAs a broad range of experiences and the opportunity to develop a well-rounded clinical skill set. The Care in Place model allows CNAs to care for patients holistically while collaborating with multiple disciplines to support patients throughout their hospital stay. • Completes only those skills duties for which competency has been demonstrated basic and advanced skills checklists.
• Documents pertinent patient information concisely and legibly using acceptable medical terminology and abbreviation on all assigned patients.
• Monitors and record vital signs, reporting changes to the nursing team.
• Supports nurses and healthcare staff in delivering personalized, high-quality care.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and healing environment for patients and families.
• Provides emotional support and compassionate care during vulnerable moments.
• Communicates clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and team members.

Required qualifications
