Job summary

Russell Regional Hospital in Kansas is seeking a part-time Day Shift Nursing Aide in the Long Term Care Dept to provide compassionate, high-quality patient care and support to nursing staff.

This role focuses on daily living activities, safety, dignity, and teamwork, with responsibilities including feeding, bathing, positioning, vital signs, and reporting changes to medical staff. No prior experience required; high school diploma and Kansas nurse aide certification with BLS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Providing great patient care.
• Answering patient calls and determining how best to help them.
• Providing physical support for daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing, or exercising.
• Turning and repositioning bedridden patients.
• Obtaining information from physicians, caregivers, and nurses about patient conditions, treatment plans, and suggested activities.
• Measuring and recording food and liquid intake and urinary and fecal output and reporting changes to medical or nursing staff.
• Recording vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate as requested by staff.
• Examining patients to detect issues requiring medical care, including open wounds and bruises.
• Responding quickly in an emergency; running, positioning patients, performing CPR, etc.

General Purpose

Provide high quality, compassionate care and assistance to patients with activities of daily living. The position supports nursing staff by helping ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable environment while promoting dignity and respect for all patients.

Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent. Current certification as a nurse aide in good standing with the state of Kansas. Current BLS certification or ability to obtain upon hire.

Ability to lift and move patients and equipment up to 50 pounds independently and more with assistance.

Standing and walking for long periods of time, Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching and stooping.

Ability to push and pull patients and equipment.

Stamina and endurance to handle fast paced, high stress environment.

Ability to respond quickly in an emergency; running, positioning patients, performing CPR, etc.
