Job summary

Valley Baptist Medical Center Harlingen in Harlingen, Texas, is seeking a patient care support role where you provide basic nursing care and comfort to patients under supervision. This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus.

Under close supervision of a licensed nurse, you will care for patients across General Nursing Units, Special Care Areas, Maternal Child, Nursery, Endoscopy, ED, and Behavioral Health.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• 1 year hospital experience (preferred).
• Possession of a current state or national nurse’s aide certification or a certification as a phlebotomist, medical technician, patient care technician, medical assistant, EKG tech or in another related field.
• BLS – Obtained through approved American Heart Association Training Center.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic and intermediate nursing care for assigned group of patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Care for patients 18 years and older in General Nursing Units; unit-specific variation may apply.
• Care for patients in Special Care Areas (high-risk), Maternal Child Units (labor/delivery), Nursery, Endoscopy, Emergency Department, and Behavioral Health/Gero-Psych Unit.
• Complete established competencies within designated introductory period and perform other related duties as assigned.
