Job summary

Chesapeake Operations LLC is seeking a compassionate CNA/Direct Care Giver to provide quality daily living assistance to residents, support independence, and engage them in community activities within the care community.

You will report to supervisory staff, follow policies, maintain confidentiality, and participate in activities. Must hold a current CNA license in good standing and CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 60 days).

Qualifications

  • Must possess current CNA license from the State in which the community is located and in good standing with the Board of Nursing.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel.
  • Contributing member of nursing team, follow instruction of supervisor.

Job description

CNA/Direct Care Giver

Provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living to residents of the community. Encourage residents to function at their highest level of independence and participate in community activities. Conducts activities and provides a meaningful experience for all residents. Must maintain a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position.

Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living.
  • Report incidents involving residents to appropriate individuals (e.g., HCC, RN/LPN, ED) and complete appropriate documentation.
  • Perform housekeeping duties such as making resident beds, cleaning resident apartments, common areas, dining room, etc., as directed by supervisor.
  • Respond promptly to all resident calls for assistance or emergency alerts.
  • Remain calm and competent during emergencies.
  • Assist in planning and conducting activity programs for residents.
  • Follow confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information.
  • Assist residents to and from the dining room and activities.
  • Check on residents, ensure attendance at meals and activities.
  • Check on residents who are ill and report status or concerns to appropriate individuals, document appropriately when necessary.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing to report resident status, upcoming community information, resident appointments, admissions, and transfers.
  • Assist new residents with move‑in transition: provide emotional support.
  • Report all resident changes and interventions in the Daily Log and clinical record; notify family as directed.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must possess current CNA license from the State in which the community is located and in good standing with the Board of Nursing.

  • Polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co‑workers at all times.
  • Physically able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Capable of lifting 50 lbs, and push or carry 25 lbs.
  • Safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics.
  • Worn in designated uniform during working hours, including name badge and a smile.
  • CPR/First Aid certified, or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
  • Represent the community in a positive and professional manner.
  • Attend and complete all required in‑services and staff meetings.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays.
