Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is seeking adjunct faculty to deliver CNA preparation didactic and lab content for weekend cohorts. Faculty will apply approved syllabi, create engaging lessons, assess students, and maintain records while upholding college policies and safety procedures.

Qualified applicants must hold an Indiana RN or LPN license with at least one year of nursing experience and complete required trainer and health-science credentials as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • RN or LPN licensed in Indiana with good standing.
  • Minimum of one year of licensed nursing experience.
  • Completed Indiana Department of Health Train-the-Trainer.
  • Holds current Workplace Specialist License from Indiana DOE in Health Science (if applicable).

Responsibilities

  • Delivers assigned classes in line with College policy and course objectives.
  • Utilizes technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops/maintains outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintains accurate student records and grades.
  • Engages with students to provide meaningful learning experiences.
  • Interacts professionally with students and staff and follows College policies.
  • Implements safety procedures for classrooms and labs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided. This position will primarily work to serve students in a weekend cohort.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
  • Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

HLHS 107 Course Standard (Didactic)

A qualified faculty member teaching the didactic portion of CNA Preparation meets all four of the following criteria: Is a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse licensed and in good standing in the State of Indiana, and Has a minimum of one year of licensed nursing experience, and Has completed Indiana Department of Health Train-the-Trainer, and One of the following: Completed the required state training session including adult learning theory or Holds a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education in any Health Science.

HLHS 107 Course Standard (Lab/Clinical)

A qualified faculty member teaching the lab or clinical portions of CNA Preparation meets both of the following criteria: Is a licensed nurse holding an unencumbered license in the state of Indiana, and Has a minimum of one year of licensed nurse experience.
