Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College is seeking adjunct nursing instructors to deliver didactic and clinical content as needed. You will develop course materials, assess student performance, and maintain records in accordance with college policies.

Position requires RN or LPN in Indiana, with at least one year of nursing experience and completion of state training including adult learning theory. Training on safety and emergency procedures is included.

Qualifications

• RN or LPN licensed in Indiana.
• Minimum one year of licensed nursing experience.
• Indiana Department of Health Train-the-Trainer completed.
• State training including adult learning theory completed.
• Workplace Specialist License in Health Science (Indiana Dept of Education) held.
• Licensed nurse with an unencumbered Indiana license (Lab/Clinical).

Responsibilities

• Delivers assigned classes per college policy and course objectives.
• Uses available technology to enhance instruction.
• Develops/maintains outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments and tests; maintains records.
• Engages with students to foster active learning and positive experiences.
• Interacts professionally with students and colleagues; adheres to policies.
• Implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms and labs.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as‑needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
• Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
• Interacts with students and co‑workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
• Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

HLHS 107 Course Standard (Didactic)

• Is a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse licensed and in good standing in the State of Indiana, and
• Has a minimum of one year of licensed nursing experience, and
• Has completed Indiana Department of Health Train‑the‑Trainer,
• Completed the required state training session including adult learning theory or
• Holds a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education in any Health Science.

HLHS 107 Course Standard (Lab/Clinical)

• Is a licensed nurse holding an unencumbered license in the state of Indiana, and
• Has a minimum of one year of licensed nurse experience.
