Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College seeks adjunct faculty to deliver CNA didactic and lab instruction. You will align with course objectives, use available technology, and develop materials for student success.

You will also maintain records and engage students with active teaching strategies, ensuring safe classroom and lab environments in Indiana.

Qualifications

• Be a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse licensed in Indiana in good standing.
• Have a minimum of one year of licensed nursing experience.
• Complete Indiana Department of Health Train-the-Trainer and one of: adult learning theory training or Workplace Specialist License.

Responsibilities

• Deliver assigned CNA courses in accordance with college policy and course objectives.
• Develop/maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
• Engage with students using active teaching strategies to enhance learning.
• Follow safety procedures for classrooms, labs, and all learning environments.

Job description

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.HLHS 107 Course Standard (Didactic)A qualified faculty member teaching the didactic portion of CNA Preparation meets all four of the following criteria:Is a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse licensed and in good standing in the State of Indiana, andHas a minimum of one year of licensed nursing experience, andHas completed Indiana Department of Health Train-the-Trainer, andOne of the following:Completed the required state training session including adult learning theory orHolds a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education in any Health Science.HLHS 107 Course Standard (Lab/Clinical)A qualified faculty member teaching the lab or clinical portions of CNA Preparation meets both of the following criteria:Is a licensed nurse holding an unencumbered license in the state of Indiana, andHas a minimum of one year of licensed nurse experience.Ivy Tech is committed to supporting the well-being, growth, and financial security of our part-time employees.
