Job summary

NV5, Inc. seeks an experienced Laboratory Manager to oversee the daily operations of its construction materials and geotechnical testing laboratory in Florida.

You will manage lab staff, ensure testing accuracy and on-time reporting, and maintain compliance with ASTM/AASHTO/FDOT standards while supporting project teams with QA/QC and client service. Qualifications

• 5+ years of laboratory testing and supervisory experience.
• Experience with FDOT and CMEC samples is a plus.
• Familiar with FDOT/USACE methods and civil construction practices.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel).
• Strong written and verbal communication and people management.

Responsibilities

• Assist with management and supervision of NV5's Alachua Certified testing laboratory
• Assist with administration and participation in the CMEC / CCRL proficiency testing programs and audits.
• Assist with administration and participation in the CMEC / USACE Laboratory Validation Audit.
• Laboratory Testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and Asphalt in strict accordance the American Standard Testing Materials (ASTM) standards, FDOT Test Methods, and USACE Test Methods
• Laboratory Testing of Geotechnical Materials to include but not limited to Triaxial testing, Permeability, Direct Shear, Classifications, Consolidation Testing, Atterberg Limits tests, sieve analysis, corrosion series, organic content tests, Proctor Tests, unconfined compression tests, etc.
• Implementation and adherence of the laboratory Health & Safety program
• Arranging for and conducting equipment maintenance and calibrations as required
• Training and mentoring laboratory staff, and tracking of training records
• Preparation and distribution of laboratory testing reports, and liaison with NV5's geotechnical and materials staff, clients and stakeholders

We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager to oversee daily operations of our construction materials and geotechnical testing laboratory. This role is responsible for managing lab staff, ensuring testing is performed accurately and on schedule, maintaining compliance with applicable standards (ASTM/AASHTO/FDOT), and supporting project teams with reporting, quality control, and client service.

Qualifications

Education, experience, licensure, and skills

• Education evaluated on a case-by-case basis
• 5+ years of laboratory testing and supervisory experience
• Experience testing and reporting of FDOT and CMEC samples considered an asset
• Experienced with civil construction practices and relevant testing standards and FDOT / USACE Methods
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite including Word and Excel
• Familiar with Quality Management Systems
• Experienced with Radiation Safety and can be the Radiation Safety Officer.
• Strong written and verbal communication and people management skills
• Experience in writing technical reports, business development, and client relations
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving experience
• Excellent organizational skills
