Job summary

InTEC of San Antonio is seeking a Lab Technician specializing in Construction Materials to ensure quality assurance and material testing. You will be responsible for overseeing laboratory analyses and inspections on construction sites, collecting critical data to support project decisions.

Qualifications

Job Summary

Join our dynamic team as a Lab Technician specializing in Construction Materials! Your expertise will support the integrity of construction processes by conducting precise laboratory analyses, inspecting materials on‑site, and collecting critical data to inform project decisions. Duties
  • Perform comprehensive laboratory tests on construction materials such as concrete, masonry, and other building components to verify quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Conduct quality control inspections on construction sites, ensuring materials and workmanship meet project standards and contractual requirements.
  • Collect, record, and analyze data related to material properties, test results, and inspection findings to support project documentation and decision-making.
  • Assist with concrete forming procedures and monitor curing processes to ensure structural integrity during construction phases.
  • Support construction inspection activities by verifying adherence to safety protocols, building codes, and contract specifications.
  • Maintain detailed records of test results, inspection reports, and quality assessments for audit readiness and project tracking.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify issues early and recommend solutions that uphold quality standards across all phases of construction.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Proven laboratory experience with a focus on construction materials testing or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, including site operations, masonry work, concrete forming, and general inspection techniques.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to accurately interpret test data and make sound, informed decisions.
  • Experience with quality control procedures in a construction environment highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with construction contracts, inspection protocols, and applicable safety regulations.
  • Ability to efficiently collect precise data while maintaining strong attention to detail in fast‑paced environments.
  • Knowledge of quality inspection standards for masonry and concrete materials is a plus.
Education & Certifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, and other applicable testing standards.
  • Relevant certifications (ACI, NICET, TxDOT, etc.) preferred or ability to obtain.
