Job summary

MTC Test is seeking Traveling Field Technicians to perform quality assurance testing of construction materials at remote project sites. After tests are completed, results are documented and shared with client field representatives for review and processing. Under PM guidance, assistants help with deficiency resolution.

Travel is required: 3 weeks to 6 months at a time, with potential local work between assignments. Training at the MTC office precedes site work.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; science-focused degrees helpful.
• 1 year CST experience (MCA or ACI) preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Regular lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work 8–14 hours daily, 5–7 days a week.
• Willingness to travel and stay overnight for weeks to months.

Job description

Traveling Field Technicians travel to remote project sites to perform Quality Assurance testing of construction materials. Upon accurate completion of the tests, the results are documented and communicated to client field representatives. Reports are then submitted for review and processing. With guidance from the Project Manager, the Traveling Field Technician will assist with deficiency resolution.

This role will require the ability to complete training at the MTC office and then travel to site locations for 3 weeks to 6 months at a time. There may be an opportunity for work local to an MTC office between longer-term travel assignments.

Responsibilities:

• Perform all necessary concrete and density testing
• Complete daily report of observation and accurately record test results
• Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications
• Professional communication with client representatives (supervisor, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites
• Recording and communication to the project supervisor and client any deviations from the specifications
• Proper maintenance of equipment
• Perform other duties or functions as assigned or requested
  Coordinate schedule with coworker and/or reliably monitor independent schedule

Qualifications and Requirements:

• High School degree required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree with a science focus helpful
• Construction Materials Testing experience including MCA or ACI certification: 1 year (preferred)
• Valid driver's license and good driving record
• Regular lifting up to 50 lbs
• Ability to comfortably work a physical job for 8-14 hours in a day, 5-7 days a week
• Ability to travel and stay overnight for non-local projects for weeks to months at a time
• Ability to coordinate individual aspects of projects
• Effective communication skills and consistent contact with manager
• Comfortable working independently and efficiently
• High ethical standards and ability to reliably self-govern
• Work environment primarily at construction sites with the possibility of challenging terrain and outdoor weather conditions
• Pre-employment drug screen, physical with 50lb lift test, and a background check with Motor Vehicle Report
