Job summary

SLPT Automotive is seeking qualified personnel to read engineering drawings, program CMMs, and validate part conformance in a high-precision metrology lab. You will run PC-DMIS programs, document inspections, and support continuous improvement across production lines.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • For programmer positions all levels of CMM (Level #3) are required. Past experience also required.
  • For Technician Level 1 or higher, past experience preferred but not required.
  • Must be able to read engineering drawings and specifications
  • Must be able to run or navigate CAD to some degree
  • Must have a basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Working knowledge of programming in PC-Dmis 2017R1
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as quality standards, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must possess computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets and good basic math skills
  • Must be able to learn & or know how to read CMM layout reports and production drawings.
  • Is able to create spreadsheets, 6 packs and create comparison charts between us and supplier/customer.

Responsibilities

  • Perform layouts on the CMM and measures parts as required as per the part prints for the product being produced.
  • Make the records of the inspections including SPC and other documentation requirements.
  • Gets the correct parts that are required to be measured.
  • Loads parts in fixtures as directed and runs the correct CMM program for the task.
  • Records the results of the measurements and provides saves the reports.
  • Once measurements and reports are completed, dispositions parts as directed.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean working environment, in a safe and accurate condition.
  • Assures that the required environmental conditions are maintained, recorded and notifies supervisor when the environment fails to meet the laboratory requirements.
  • Participate in other value-added plant activities as assigned – fill in for departmental setups or production associates, kaizen events, waste reduction projects, clean and shine projects, 8D meetings, etc.
  • Help respond and interact with customers/visitors on plant tours and issues of quality, cost and delivery.
  • Work with the Team members, SLPT staff, customers and suppliers on continuous improvement (quality, service and cost control).
  • Participate in team problem-solving and improvement initiatives.
  • Performs all other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Must be able to run a Keyence IM8030T or equivalent.
  • Can run a Spring tester, Profilometer, use hand gages, Scales, etc. (any additional items that are found in a CMM Lab for automotive testing)

Summary
