Job summary

Holley Performance Brands, a leader in high-performance automotive parts, is seeking a skilled CMM Programmer in Phoenix, AZ. You will create and optimize CMM programs, translate drawings and GD&T into precise inspection routines, and perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of precision components.

The role requires 5+ years of CMM programming experience in manufacturing, strong GD&T knowledge, and proficiency with PC-DMIS.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of CMM programming and inspection in a manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive experience with GD&T and interpreting engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize CMM programs using PC-DMIS on Hexagon CMMs.
  • Program and operate CMMs to perform dimensional inspections.
  • Perform the CMM prove-out and validation on first-run or revised programs; refine as needed.
  • Translate drawings, CAD models, and GD&T into inspection routines.
  • Conduct first article, in-process, and final inspections of parts.
  • Analyze measurement data and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Identify and report non-conformances.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production to optimize inspection processes.
  • Improve programming and inspection efficiency while minimizing secondary verifications.
  • Create and maintain detailed inspection reports and SOPs.

Overview:

Seeking a highly skilled CMM Programmer to create, maintain, and optimize CMM programs to ensure accurate measurement of precision components. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with CMM operation, programming, and quality control processes within a CNC machine manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Programming & Operation
  • Develop and optimize CMM programs using PC-DMIS programming software on Hexagon CMMs.
  • Program and operate CMMs to perform dimensional inspections.
  • Perform the CMM “prove-out” and validation on first-run or revised programs; refine the program and inspection method as necessary.
  • Translate engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T into accurate inspection routines.
Inspection & Quality Control
  • Conduct first article, in-process, and final inspections of parts.
  • Analyze measurement data and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Identify and report non-conformances.
Process Improvement
  • Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production teams to optimize inspection processes.
  • Improve the efficiency of programming and inspection methods and processes—both speed and accuracy—while minimizing necessary secondary verifications.
Documentation
  • Create and maintain detailed inspection reports.
  • Document and update work instructions and standard operating procedures as applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring:

Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in CMM programming and inspection in a manufacturing environment, preferably for machined product.
  • Extensive experience with GD&T and interpreting engineering drawings.
Skills
  • Proficiency in CMM PC-DMIS programming software.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, metrology principles, and quality standards (ASME Y14.5).
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Technical Skills
  • Ability to program for multi-part fixtures.
  • Ability to program 1-touch programs (touch and walk away).
  • Hands-on experience with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, comparators, etc.).

Bonus Points For:

  • Certification in GD&T or Metrology (e.g., ASME Y14.5 certification).
  • Certification in CMM programming software (e.g., PC-DMIS).
  • Strong attention to detail and precision.
  • Ability to work independently and lead projects.
  • Proactive in identifying and resolving technical challenges.
  • Team-oriented with a focus on collaboration and strong communication skills.
  • Predominantly in the inspection/CMM room, though may review processes in a manufacturing floor environment.
  • Regular use of CMMs and precision instruments, as well as PC desktop/laptop and associated software.
  • Standing or sitting for extended periods during inspections and programming.
