Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking a Quality Engineer to lead shop-floor quality operations for high-precision aerospace components. You will run in-process and final inspections, serve as GD&T expert, and ensure strict compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards. Proficiency in CMM programming with Calypso is required.

Salary ranges from $72,000 to $87,000 per year, with a first shift (6:00 AM–2:30 PM). Education required is High School.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of quality engineering experience in aerospace/defense.
• Expertise in GD&T and interpreting complex blueprints.
• Ability to program and operate a CMM using Calypso.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily in-process and final inspections on shop floor.
• Perform complex dimensional and GD&T inspections using CMMs and optical tools.
• Interpret blueprints and GD&T callouts to validate parts.
• Lead root-cause analysis and coordinate CAPAs with teams.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, and defense regs.
• Manage calibration schedules with traceability to NIST.
• Collaborate with jig grinding and CNC teams to optimize processes.
• Program CMM to create custom parts using Calypso.
• Sign off on First Article Inspection reports (AS9102).

Are you a master of ultra-precision metrology who thrives in a zero-tolerance environment? We are seeking a Quality Engineer to oversee shop-floor quality operations for high-precision machine tools, jig grinding, and aerospace/defense contract manufacturing. In this role, you will lead daily in-process and final inspections, serve as the technical authority on complex GD&T, and ensure unwavering compliance with AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards. ***Ability to program and run a CMM a MUST HAVE***

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day in-process and final inspection workflows, balancing production schedules with rigorous sub-micron precision standards.
• Execute complex dimensional, geometric, and visual inspections of critical aerospace/defense components using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), optical comparators, and micro-precision hand tools.
• Interpret complex blueprints, models, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) callouts to validate part conformity.
• Identify, document, and quarantine non-conforming materials. Lead root-cause analysis (e.g., 5-Why, 8D) and coordinate Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) with engineering and shop floor teams.
• Ensure daily quality practices strictly align with ISO 9001, AS9100, and defense-industry regulatory standards, representing the metrology department during internal and external audits.
• Manage the calibration schedule for all measuring instruments, gages, and testing equipment, maintaining full traceability to national standards (NIST).
• Collaborate directly with jig grinding specialists, CNC machinists, and engineers to troubleshoot machining anomalies and refine manufacturing processes before non-conformances occur.
• Program CMM to create custom parts, using Calypso
• Compile, review, and sign off on First Article Inspection reports (AS9102 compliant) for initial production runs and modified precision customer components.
