Job description

Position: CMM Operator / Quality Technician
Shift: 2nd (Training on 1st Shift Required)
Hours: 3:00 PM 12:00 AM
Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Placement

Overview:

Our client, a premier OEM manufacturer, is looking for an experienced CMM Operator / Quality Technician to join their team on 2nd shift. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented quality professional with a strong background in CMM operations, First Article Inspections (FAI), and visual inspection of precision components. Candidates should have 4-6 years of quality inspection experience, preferably in aerospace or high-precision manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to perform precision dimensional inspections.
  • Conduct visual inspections of machined and assembled components to identify surface and cosmetic defects.
  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAI), in-process, and final inspections in accordance with engineering drawings and customer requirements.
  • Set up CMM programs (experience with PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar is preferred).
  • Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, and height gauges.
  • Interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, and technical documents to ensure compliance.
  • Accurately document inspection results and maintain detailed records for audits and quality assurance.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
  • Ensure products meet AS9100, ISO 9001, and internal quality standards.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Support supplier and customer quality activities, including documentation for FAI submissions.
  • Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • 4-6 years of experience in quality inspection, including CMM operation, FAI, and visual inspection in a manufacturing or OEM setting.
  • Experience programming and operating CMM equipment (PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar platforms).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading.
  • Skilled in using standard inspection tools and precision measuring equipment.
  • Familiarity with OEM standards and aerospace quality systems.
  • High attention to detail and excellent documentation habits.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications are a plus.
  • Able to lift up to 30 lbs as needed.
