Job summary

Sonaca North America seeks a skilled CMM Operator to operate coordinate measuring machines, read blueprints, and support quality goals. You will work under the Quality Supervisor and coordinate with CAD/CAM and production teams to ensure accurate measurements and continuous improvement.

You should have CAD/CAM familiarity and prior CMM or CNC mill experience, with the ability to lift 30–50 lbs and work overtime when needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; pre-employment assessment if not present.
  • Familiar with Polyworks, Verisurf or PC-DMIS software.
  • Able to read blueprints, mylars and customer specifications.
  • Familiarity with CATIA/SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
  • Preferably prior CMM experience or CNC mill operation with posting/running jobs.
  • Solid experience with various measurement tools and methods.
  • Manufacturing experience with computer assisted production.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to work with all company personnel in a cooperative manner.

Responsibilities

  • Start up and operate the CMM following proper operating and safety procedures.
  • Read and understand setup sheets and set up jobs per instructions.
  • Read and understand sampling plan and run setup jobs per plan requirements.
  • Read and understand CMM part programs; make minor setup and program adjustments.
  • Complete data entry and exchange through CAD/CAM and work tracking systems.
  • Follow parts schedule prepared by the supervisor; modify for hot jobs or emergencies.
  • Work with CAD/CAM programmers, quality, and production to resolve problems.
  • Perform daily routine maintenance on the CMM to ensure safe operation.
  • Participate in work center teams or other project teams.
  • Utilize forklift to set up fixtures used for CMM.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are currently seeking a CMM Operator under the direction of the Quality Supervisor, in all actions, will demonstrate a high level of confidentiality; supports Sonaca North America’s Quality Policy, Mission Statement and other Company policies and procedures by supporting our commitment to total customer satisfaction, quality products and services, lean processes, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teaming, individual accountability and respect for people.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Start up and operate the CMM following the proper operating and safety procedures.
  • Read and understand setup sheets and set up jobs per instructions
  • Read and understand Sonaca North America sampling plan and run setup jobs per plan requirements.
  • Read and understand CMM part programs, make minor setup and program adjustments as necessary on a personal computer (PC) system.
  • Complete data entry and exchange through the CAD/CAM and work tracking systems.
  • Follow parts schedule prepared by the supervisor. Modify the schedule as required to accommodate“hot jobs” or emergency requirements.
  • Work with CAD/CAM programmers, quality, and production personnel to identify and resolve problems.
  • Perform daily routine maintenance on the CMM to ensure the safe and efficient operation.
  • Participate in work center team and/or other project teams.
  • Utilize forklift to setup fixtures used for CMM
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES
  • High school diploma or high school equivalency preferred. Candidates that do not have a high school diploma or high school equivalency will be required to take a pre-employment assessment to be considered for the role.
  • Familiar with Polyworks, Verisurf or PC-DMIS Software

  • Familiarity with CATIA/SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD Software.
