Job summary

Sonaca North America is seeking a CMM Inspector in Saint Charles, MO to support quality control for aerospace manufacturing. The role involves starting up and operating CMMs, interpreting setup sheets, and ensuring accurate data entry and documentation.

The inspector will work with CAD/CAM and production teams, perform routine CMM maintenance, and adapt schedules for urgent or hot jobs while emphasizing safety and total quality adherence.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Familiar with Polyworks, Verisurf or PC-DMIS software.
  • Ability to read blueprints, mylars and customer specifications.
  • Familiarity with CATIA/SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
  • Preferably prior CMM experience or CNC mill operation experience with posting and running jobs.
  • Solid experience with various measurement tools and methods.
  • Manufacturing experience with computer assisted production.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Ability to work well with all company personnel.
  • Good attendance record and reliable work history.
  • Ability to move/lift 30-50 lbs.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Start up and operate the CMM following proper procedures.
  • Read and understand setup sheets and set up jobs per instructions.
  • Read and understand sampling plan and run setup jobs per plan requirements.
  • Read and understand CMM part programs and make minor adjustments.
  • Complete data entry and exchange through CAD/CAM and work tracking systems.
  • Follow parts schedule and adjust for hot or emergency jobs.
  • Collaborate with CAD/CAM programmers, quality and production to resolve issues.
  • Perform daily routine maintenance on the CMM.
  • Participate in team and project initiatives.
  • Utilize forklift to set up fixtures for CMM.

POSITION SUMMARY

We are currently seeking a CMM Inspector under the direction of the Quality Supervisor, in all actions, will demonstrate a high level of confidentiality; supports Sonaca North America's Quality Policy, Mission Statement and other Company policies and procedures by supporting our commitment to total customer satisfaction, quality products and services, lean processes, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, safety, teaming, individual accountability and respect for people.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Start up and operate the CMM following the proper operating and safety procedures.
  • Read and understand setup sheets and set up jobs per instructions
  • Read and understand Sonaca North America sampling plan and run setup jobs per plan requirements.
  • Read and understand CMM part programs, make minor setup and program adjustments as necessary on a personal computer (PC) system.
  • Complete data entry and exchange through the CAD/CAM and work tracking systems.
  • Follow parts schedule prepared by the supervisor. Modify the schedule as required to accommodate "hot" jobs or emergency requirements.
  • Work with CAD/CAM programmers, quality, and production personnel to identify and resolve problems.
  • Perform daily routine maintenance on the CMM to ensure the safe and efficient operation.
  • Participate in work center team and/or other project teams.
  • Utilize forklift to setup fixtures used for CMM
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES
  • High school diploma or high school equivalency preferred. Candidates that do not have a high school diploma or high school equivalency will be required to take a pre-employment assessment to be considered for the role.
  • Familiar with Polyworks, Verisurf or PC-DMIS Software
  • The ability to read blueprints, mylars and customer specifications.
  • Familiarity with CATIA/SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD Software.
