Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform inspection(s) of products to determine conformance to all specifications
  • Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines using pre-written programs
  • Set-up in accordance with pre-established part set-up instructions
  • Evaluate inspection results to determine conformance to requirements
  • Utilize various manual measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, indicators and other hand-held measuring devices
  • Utilize other vision-based equipment such as Optical Comparators, Microscopes or 2D profilers for measurement of parts or part characteristics
  • Understand and perform to all current quality standards
  • Prepare and update Company and Customer inspection records as required
  • Communicate inspection results effectively with co-workers and supervisors
  • Understand GD+T concepts including Maximum Material Condition, True Position and Profile of Surface tolerances
  • Understand basic statistical techniques sufficient for evaluation of measurement data trends
  • Have a basic understanding of machining processes sufficient to support communication of findings to the production floor
  • Train others on inspection techniques and tools when required
  • Perform safe operation of CMM machines
  • Accurately complete all required paperwork
  • Ensure the proper filing of inspection results on the company server
  • Keep machines and work area clean and organized at all times
  • Perform basic weekly and daily maintenance of CMM machines
  • Abide by and support all safety and quality system requirements
  • Provide good feedback and promote good communication with other inspectors from multiple shifts, Quality Engineers, Process Engineers and Machinists
  • Embrace a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Programming and operation experience using PCDMIS driven CMMs is highly desirable

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
