Quality Inspector

Scope of job -- Quality Inspector will be responsible for carrying out inspections complying with Smith & Wesson procedures. Timely and accurate completion of all related documentation is a key part of the role. Inspector will also ensure that inspection instruments and equipment are maintained to a safe and compliant standard.

Education and Experience:

* Trade/Vocational Degree 0r ASQ Certification

* Minimum of 2 years' experience with Inspection

Competencies and Skills:

* Familiarity with routine instrumentation and inspection equipment

* Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC)

* Strong knowledge of GD&T

* CNC knowledge a plus

* Ability to build solid working relationships that enhance collaboration and cooperation with others.

* Ability to prioritize daily/weekly work assignments to meet goals.

* Ability to multitask and pay attention to detail

* Must have working command of the English language

* Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, statistical tools and related software

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Perform inspection of component parts using a variety of inspection and measurement tools such as optical comparators, calipers, micrometers, CMM and vision scope.

* Evaluate inspection results for compliance to specification.

* Perform First Article inspection of parts by interpreting drawings which include GD&T.

* Recognize problems that might affect the quality or integrity of the product and communicate problems.

* Facilitate calibration and routine daily/weekly instrument maintenance to ensure accuracy of results.

* Identify Lean manufacturing opportunities for continuous process improvement and suggest alternatives and solutions to problems.

* Initiate changes to current Inspection Procedures.

* Train other QC technicians and/ or temporary technicians.

* Update reports, documents and metrics as necessary for quality tracking and improvement.

* Perform other duties assigned by management.

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:

Within any of our facilities, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing and distribution operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.

The following Personal Protective Equipment is required:

* Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection required when on manufacturing floor
