Job summary

Legend Biotech in Somerset, NJ seeks a Scientist II, CMC Pipeline Innovation to advance manufacturing, analytical, and characterization technologies for cell and gene therapies. This role emphasizes hands-on development, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to improve speed, quality, and cost efficiency across our development pipeline.

The position requires a PhD with relevant experience or an MS/BS with equivalent qualifications, plus strong knowledge of LVV operations, analytics,

Qualifications

PhD in biology or related field; 0–3 years experience preferred.
Strong hands-on LVV operations and bioreactor/chromatography experience.
LVV processes and analytical tools desirable.
AI/ML exposure in bioprocess development a plus.
Solid understanding of viral vector manufacturing and gene therapy fundamentals.
Fluent English; Mandarin a plus.

Responsibilities

Execute LVV downstream process development, including capture/polishing strategies to improve recovery and purity.
Develop proof-of-concept, feasibility, and characterization studies for new technologies.
Design lab studies to evaluate manufacturing/analytical tech for process understanding and scalability.
Coordinate cross-functional activities to implement new tech; transfer to development and manufacturing.
Draft and review protocols; communicate results via reports and presentations.
Maintain Innovation lab operations and procurements; manage facility needs.
