Job summary

CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support radiology services. The role involves preparing patients, positioning for X-rays, operating radiographic equipment, and collecting vital signs under provider supervision.

The CMA will perform routine tests such as EKGs, obtain specimens for labs, and ensure patient safety and comfort during imaging procedures in a busy care setting.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED upon hire.
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant or CMA credential upon hire.
• National certifications (AAMA, NHA, NCCT, NAHP, AMT) upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) within 14 days of employment.
• Limited Radiologic Technologist KY LRAD:KY certification requirement.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for radiologic procedures and protect staff from radiation hazards.
• Position patients and perform X-ray imaging as requested by the physician.
• Acquire X-ray images following established safety and quality standards.
• Process imaging films and evaluate clarity; retake if needed.
• Collect vital signs and perform routine tests (e.g., EKG) as directed.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) XRay Limited, you will be a vital pillar of our care team, significantly impacting patient well-being through direct support and seamless coordination.

Under the direction of the health care provider, Medical Assistant – X-ray Limited is responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes the safety and wellbeing of all patients. Accurately performs preliminary physical tests. Under close supervision, responsible for operating X-ray and fluoroscopic equipment that assists radiologists and/or physicians with diagnosing and/or treating disease and/or injury.

• Prepare patients for radiologic procedures and protects patients, self and other staff from radiation hazards.
• Position patients and take X-ray of specific parts of the patients’ body as requested by the physician.
• Take X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety, which involves setting up and operating radiographic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients.
• Process film and check X-ray for clarity of image, retake when necessary.
• Distribute X-ray to appropriate medical staff.
• Perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
• May perform routine tests including but not limited to EKG’s.
• Obtain and record vital signs including but not limited to, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problems.
• May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.

Preferred

• Two year medical assistant experience
