Responsibilities
- Meet and greet patients, obtain patient information and medical history, and document in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Record vital signs; perform EKG, spirometry, and similar procedures; assist licensed staff during treatments, including injections and immunizations; report adverse reactions.
- Perform lab duties such as phlebotomy, specimen collection, and order entry, ensuring proper specimen labeling and chain of custody.
- Distribute educational materials and instructions for patient care under supervision.
- Manage prescription refill requests and test result reporting in accordance with provider instructions.
- Prepare and maintain examination/treatment rooms, including inventory management.
- Practice Standard Precautions and comply with safety, HIPAA, and risk management protocols.
- Attend meetings, in-services, and participate in committees as required.
- Assist with administrative duties, including scheduling and completing medical histories for third-party payors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma or GED; graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or completion of a Nursing Assistant program.
- Experience: None required.
- Licensure/Certifications: BLS required; certification from AAMA or similar organization required.
