Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our outpatient care teams in Birmingham, AL. The CMA will organize patient records and provide clinical nursing support, including preparing patients for exams, basic lab tests, and collecting medical histories.

Ideal candidates possess CMA or CCMA certification and CPR, thrive in a fast-paced setting, and communicate well with diverse patients while upholding compassionate care and teamwork across physicians, nurses, and staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• CMA or CCMA certification required; CPR certification required or obtained within 30 days.
• AAMA or NHA certification must be current or obtained within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Organize and maintain patient records and clinical nursing support tasks.
• Prep patients for exams, perform basic lab tests, obtain medical histories.
• Adapt to a fast-paced environment and emergencies, with strong interpersonal interaction.
