Job summary

Gold's Gym in Portland is seeking a Club Keeper to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for members. You will sanitize equipment, tidy floors, and keep locker rooms pristine from open to close, with a clear routine and opportunities to grow into front desk or management roles.

The role offers part-time, hourly scheduling with shifts that may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. A friendly, dependable team member with attention to detail is valued.

Qualifications

• 18 years or older.
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
• Cleaning, janitorial, or housekeeping experience is a plus, but we will train the right person.
• Detail-oriented and self-motivated, able to work independently and manage your time.
• Friendly and respectful with members and teammates.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize gym equipment and high-touch surfaces on a regular rotation.
• Re-rack weights and return dumbbells, plates, and accessories to their proper spots.
• Sweep, dust, mop, scrub, and vacuum the gym floor, hallways, stairs, studios, and offices.
• Clean, scrub, polish, and disinfect toilets, sinks, showers, mirrors, and floors.
• Keep towels, toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and other supplies fully stocked.
• Greet members with a friendly attitude and point them to the front desk when they need help.
• Watch for damaged equipment, spills, and other hazards, and fix or report them right away.
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and as directed.
• Complete assigned cleaning checklists and flag supply needs or maintenance issues to the manager on duty.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment and Gym Floor

• Clean and sanitize cardio and strength equipment, benches, mats, and high-touch surfaces on a regular rotation
• Re-rack weights and return dumbbells, plates, and accessories to their proper spots
• Sweep, dust, mop, scrub, and vacuum the gym floor, hallways, stairs, studios, and offices

Locker Rooms and Restrooms

• Clean, scrub, polish, and disinfect toilets, sinks, showers, mirrors, and floors
• Keep towels, toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and other supplies fully stocked
• Empty trash and recycling throughout the club and replace liners

Safety and Communication

• Watch for damaged equipment, spills, and other hazards, and fix or report them right away
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and as directed
• Complete assigned cleaning checklists and flag supply needs or maintenance issues to the manager on duty
• Greet members with a friendly attitude and point them to the front desk when they need help

Physical Requirements

• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for most of the shift
• Lift and carry up to 40 lbs (trash bags, supply boxes, weight plates)
• Work safely around cleaning products and gym equipment

Availability

• Shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on club needs

Compensation and Benefits

• $16.80 to $18.00 per hour, based on experience
