Job summary

Firethorne Technology Services in Houston is seeking a Cloud & Systems Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain server, storage, and Microsoft 365 infrastructure for our managed services clients.

This role supports on-prem and cloud migrations (Azure, AWS), monitors performance and backups, and collaborates with the service desk. MSP experience is highly valued and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in systems engineering, infrastructure or cloud administration.
• Hands-on with Windows Server, virtualization and storage.
• Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience.
• Experience with Azure or AWS cloud environments.
• Excellent troubleshooting and client communication skills.

Firethorne is hiring a Cloud & Systems Engineer to support server, storage, and Microsoft 365 infrastructure for our managed services client base — a core role as clients continue migrating workloads to the cloud and modernizing on-prem environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain server and storage infrastructure for client environments (on-prem and cloud).
• Manage and support Microsoft 365 tenants, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Entra ID.
• Support cloud migration projects (Azure, AWS) including planning, execution, and post-migration optimization.
• Monitor system performance, capacity, and backups across client environments.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and provide escalation support for the service desk.
• Maintain documentation for client environments, configurations, and standard operating procedures.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure, or cloud administration, ideally in an MSP environment.
• Hands-on experience with Windows Server, virtualization (Hyper-V/VMware), and storage systems.
• Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience.
• Familiarity with Azure or AWS cloud environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and client communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft certifications (Azure Administrator, Microsoft 365 Certified, or similar).
• Experience with backup/DR solutions and monitoring tools common in MSP environments.
• Scripting experience (PowerShell) for automation.
• Prior MSP or multi-client environment experience.
