Job summary

The Enterprise Systems and Enabling Technologies (ESET) department within the Division of IT at Virginia Tech is seeking a Cloud Systems Administrator II to join the Enterprise Cloud and AI Platforms (ECAP) team. This role supports cloud and SaaS services such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack, and university email services, working with senior staff to ensure reliability and security.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent education/experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, enterprise email systems and related security and collaboration technologies.
• Ability to utilize PowerShell or similar scripting to administer enterprise cloud and SaaS services.
• Experience administering and supporting enterprise email and collaboration platforms, including Microsoft 365 and Exchange Online.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Experience in preparing reports/documents and presenting information.
• Ability to complete assigned technical tasks with appropriate guidance, prioritizing routine operational work.

Responsibilities

• Administer and report on enterprise cloud services using PowerShell, Graph, Power BI, and GAM.
• Governance and lifecycle management of approved SaaS applications.
• Monitor, manage and secure VT collaborative SaaS environments.
• Evaluate deployment of new applications within established standards and procedures.
• Configure SaaS security, compliance, identity controls.
• Support eDiscovery workflows.
• Create and maintain up-to-date documentation for service responsibilities.
• Provide guidance and develop knowledge base articles for ECAP services.
• Consult on third-party email solutions and SaaS integrations.
• Assist in diagnosing incidents related to VT SaaS environments.
• Manage implementation and tracking of sprint goals.
• Follow university and departmental policies.
