Job summary

Percent is seeking a Cloud Specialist to support a cloud migration project for the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. The role involves designing, implementing, securing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure while migrating on-premises applications to public cloud platforms.

The candidate should have hands-on experience with major cloud providers (Azure/AWS/GCP), automation scripting, and cloud security.

Qualifications

• Experience with at least one major public cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Automation and scripting with PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
• Strong cloud networking and VPC management.
• Windows Server, Active Directory, and Linux administration experience.
• VMware vSphere experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify scalable cloud architectures for IaaS and PaaS environments.
• Design secure, compliant cloud environments with data protection.
• Migrate on-premises apps, workloads, and databases to public cloud.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Specialist to support a cloud migration initiative for the Mississippi Department of Archives and History. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure while supporting the migration of existing on-premises applications, workloads, and databases to public cloud platforms. This role requires strong hands-on experience with public cloud technologies, infrastructure administration, networking, automation, security, and cloud migration.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and modify scalable cloud architectures supporting Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) environments.
• Design and maintain secure, compliant cloud environments with a focus on data protection and privacy.
• Safely migrate existing on-premises applications, workloads, and databases to public cloud platforms.
• Monitor and analyze cloud infrastructure performance and proactively identify and resolve technical issues.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred but are not mandatory: 5 6+ years of hands-on experience with AWS or Microsoft Azure.

Previous experience working in government or regulated-industry environments.

Experience with Linux administration.

Experience with Python and Bash scripting.

Experience with enterprise storage technologies.
