Job summary

V Group Inc. seeks a Cloud Specialist to support its cloud migration initiative for the State of Mississippi’s Archives & History Dept.

The role focuses on designing scalable cloud architectures, migrating workloads to public clouds, and ensuring security and compliance across environments. The consultant will collaborate with security, infrastructure, and development teams to optimize performance, reliability, and cost, while adhering to government requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Experience with major public cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and scalable cloud architecture.
• Experience with IaaS and PaaS environments and migrations.
• Security, compliance, data protection and privacy knowledge.
• Scripting in Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• Strong cloud networking knowledge (VPCs, firewalls) and VM management.
• Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Position Summary

• The Mississippi Department of Archives & History (MDAH) is seeking an experienced Cloud Specialist to support its Cloud Migration initiative.

Responsibilities

• The selected consultant will perform, but not be limited to, the following activities:
• Design, develop, and modify scalable cloud architecture supporting enterprise applications and infrastructure.
• Support Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) cloud environments.
• Plan and execute the migration of existing on-premises applications, workloads, and databases to public cloud platforms.
• Ensure cloud environments meet security, compliance, data protection, and privacy requirements.
• Monitor and analyze cloud infrastructure performance and proactively identify potential issues.
• Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure, networking, performance, and availability issues.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, application development, security, and business teams to optimize cloud-based environments.
• Improve cloud environments for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Design and implement cloud security controls and processes utilizing available audit and monitoring tools.
• Manage and support virtual machines and cloud-hosted infrastructure.
• Configure and maintain cloud networking components, including Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), network security, and firewalls.
• Support Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and Linux systems.
• Develop and maintain automation solutions using scripting and programming languages.
• Utilize Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar technologies to automate cloud infrastructure and operational processes.
• Participate in cloud architecture planning and implementation activities.
• Maintain current knowledge of emerging cloud technologies, products, tools, and industry best practices.
• Support audit, security, compliance, and governance activities related to cloud infrastructure.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Advanced experience working with major public cloud platforms, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience designing and supporting scalable cloud architecture.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) environments.
• Experience migrating on-premises applications, workloads, and databases to public cloud platforms.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure security, compliance, data protection, and privacy requirements.
• Experience with automation and scripting languages such as Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts, including Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs) and firewalls.
• Advanced experience with virtual machine management and cloud infrastructure administration.
• Strong experience supporting Windows Server and Active Directory environments.
• Strong experience with Linux administration.
• Experience monitoring and analyzing cloud infrastructure performance.
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving cloud infrastructure and operational issues.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional technical and business teams.
• Knowledge of cloud optimization practices related to performance, scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Preferred Skills

• 5–6+ years of experience working with AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
• Prior experience supporting government organizations or regulated industries.
• Experience working with cloud security, compliance, audit, and governance tools.
• Experience supporting large-scale cloud migration initiatives.
• Knowledge of cloud cost optimization and resource management best practices.
