The company is founder-led, profitable, and growing. We are hiring a Cloud Solutions Architect in our Alliances team to help our major partners (e.g., Intel, Nvidia, Google, Dell, HP, Accenture, Tata) understand and adopt our open source platform for their own use and for their customers.

Our worldwide field engineering team applies expert insights to real-world customer problems, enabling enterprise adoption of Ubuntu, OpenStack, Kubernetes, AI/MLOps, and related technologies. We are experts across the open source stack, from kernel to desktop, cloud to edge. We also focus on business challenges—building reliable, efficient, and cost-effective solutions—and learn to communicate effectively with our customers and their industries.

We assist global companies in embracing public and private cloud infrastructure, cloud-native operations, and open source applications. We are seeking several Alliances Engineers to support OEMs, GSIs, ISVs, channel partners, and public cloud alliance partners. Your role will involve supporting partners in adopting our products and technologies, and helping business leaders develop joint go-to-market strategies from a technical perspective.

Our field engineers often face the challenge of addressing any customer inquiry about our solutions with thoughtful, well-informed answers. We trust them to prioritize the best interests of our partners and customers, maintaining integrity and excellence in service.

Location: This is a home-based role; we are hiring worldwide.

What your day will look like

1. Understand Ubuntu, Linux, networking, and services in real-world environments.
2. Architect cloud infrastructure solutions like Kubernetes, Kubeflow, OpenStack, Ceph, and Spark in On-Premises or Public Cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
3. Architect and integrate open source software such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Cassandra, and NGINX.
4. Assist partners in offering and architecting joint solutions utilizing Canonical's technologies on cloud and data centers.
5. Design and publish joint Reference Architectures and perform technical validations with partners.
6. Conduct onboarding sessions/workshops with partner teams to promote Canonical products and solutions.

What we are looking for in you

• Extensive experience with Linux (Ubuntu preferred), Kubernetes, Ceph, and automation tools.
• Experience designing and implementing solutions on public or private clouds.
• Knowledge of Python and Bash, troubleshooting skills.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• High motivation, ability to multitask, and reliably follow up on commitments.
• Interest in engaging with customers, including pitching, demonstrating, and understanding their environments and needs.
• Interest in new technologies like LXD, Juju, and Snaps.
• Willingness to travel globally up to 30% of the time.
• Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related technical field.
