Job summary

Akina, Inc. is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer to develop, maintain, and enhance complex Big-Data Cloud systems in a TS/SCI environment in Annapolis Junction, MD.

You will contribute to back-end processing, analysis, and indexing within the Cosmic program, using Java, Hadoop, and distributed computing. The role requires strong expertise in cloud computing, IR, MapReduce, and RESTful services, with a focus on scalable, secure software design.

Qualifications

• 8 years of software engineering in similar scope; 2+ years with Big-Data Cloud tech.
• Bachelors in CS or related field required; Masters may substitute 2 years.
• Cloudera Hadoop certification may substitute for 1 year Cloud experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance Big-Data Cloud systems per requirements.
• Contribute to back-end processing, analyzing, and indexing.
• Provide expertise in Cloud Computing and IR, Hadoop ecosystem.
• Review and test components for design adherence; document results.
• Resolve software problem reports and performance issues.
• Advise on hardware/software trade-offs and reuse of COTS/GOTS.
• Implement input to system design and dataflow architectures.

Description

The Cloud Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse Big-Data Cloud systems based on documented requirements.

The role contributes to back-end processing, analyzing, and indexing within the Cosmic program.

CSWE2 Qualifications

Eight (8) years of software engineering experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required; two (2) years of which must be in programs utilizing Big-Data Cloud technologies and/or Distributed Computing.

Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.

Four (4) years of cloud software engineering experience on projects with similar Big-Data systems may be substituted for a bachelors degree.

Master in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two (2) years of experience.

Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer certification may be substituted for one (1) year of Cloud experience.

Salary Range

$202k-$247k (Annually)

The range displayed above is a likely salary range for this position. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possible contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
