Job summary

Akina Inc. in Annapolis Junction, MD, seeks a Cloud Software Engineer to develop, maintain, and enhance Big-Data Cloud systems for the Cosmic program. The role covers back-end processing, analysis, indexing, and cloud computing expertise.

You will work independently or in teams, review components, test for design conformance, and resolve issues. Strong Java, Python, MapReduce, and Linux skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Eight (8) years of software engineering experience in similar scope and complexity.
• Two (2) years of which must be in Big-Data Cloud technologies or distributed computing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
• Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer certification may substitute for one year of Cloud experience.
• Master’s degree may substitute for two years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to back-end processing, analyzing, and indexing.
• Reviews and tests software components for design adherence and documents results.

Description

The Cloud Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse Big-Data Cloud systems based on documented requirements.

The role contributes to back-end processing, analyzing, and indexing within the Cosmic program.

• directly contributes to all stages of back-end processing, analyzing, and indexing
• provides expertise in Cloud Computing, Hadoop Eco-System including implementing Java applications, Distributed Computing, Information Retrieval (IR), and Object Oriented Design
• works individually or as part of a team
• reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results
• resolves software problem reports
• utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment

CSWE2 Qualifications

Eight (8) years of software engineering experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required; two (2) years of which must be in programs utilizing Big-Data Cloud technologies and/or Distributed Computing.

Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.

Four (4) years of cloud software engineering experience on projects with similar Big-Data systems may be substituted for a bachelors degree.

Master in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two (2) years of experience.

Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer certification may be substituted for one (1) year of Cloud experience.

Salary Range

$202k-$247k (Annually)

The range displayed above is a likely salary range for this position. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possible contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
