Job summary

Akina, Inc. is seeking a Cloud Software Engineer 2 in Annapolis Junction, MD to develop and maintain large-scale Big-Data Cloud systems.

You will work on backend processing, analysis, and indexing within the Cosmic program, applying Java, MapReduce, and Hadoop technologies in a team setting. Required eight years of software engineering with cloud/big-data experience; Bachelor’s in CS or related field, with Master’s as a potential substitute.

Qualifications

• Eight years of software engineering experience required in similar scope and complexity.
• Two years with Big-Data Cloud technologies and/or Distributed Computing.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline is required.
• Master's degree may substitute for two years of experience.
• Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer may substitute for one year of Cloud experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance Big-Data Cloud systems based on documented requirements.
• Contribute to back-end processing, analyzing, and indexing.
• Provide expertise in Cloud Computing and Hadoop ecosystem with Java apps.
• Work individually or as part of a team and review/test components.
• Resolve software problem reports and document test results.
• Advise on hardware/software trade-offs and reuse of COTS/GOTS.
• Input to system design and software component requirements analysis.

Description:

The Cloud Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse Big-Data Cloud systems based on documented requirements.

The role contributes to back-end processing, analyzing, and indexing within the Cosmic program.

CSWE2 Qualifications:

Eight (8) years of software engineering experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required; two (2) years of which must be in programs utilizing Big-Data Cloud technologies and/or Distributed Computing.

Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.

Four (4) years of cloud software engineering experience on projects with similar Big-Data systems may be substituted for a bachelors degree.

Master in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two (2) years of experience.

Cloudera Certified Hadoop Developer certification may be substituted for one (1) year of Cloud experience.

Salary Range: $202k-$247k (Annually)

The range displayed above is a likely salary range for this position. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possible contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
