Job summary

The Cybersecurity Engineer (Cloud Security) at the New York City Office of Technology & Innovation will play a key role in safeguarding the city's infrastructure by assisting in securing cloud and on-premises environments. You will gain mentorship from senior engineers and help implement defensive controls across cloud platforms to protect city data.

Work with AWS, Azure, and GCP, maintain runbooks and diagrams, and communicate effectively with agency stakeholders during deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience in security-related projects or policies.
• Experience operating security controls in cloud and on-prem environments.
• Experience with Windows Server security, AD/Entra, and log analysis.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Security/cloud certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Configure, integrate, and operate defensive security controls across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.
• Design and implement defensive controls including cloud security solutions.
• Support PoC evaluations for cloud security tools and document results.
• Maintain cloud diagrams, configuration guides, and runbooks.
• Provide clear communication to agency stakeholders during deployment and integration.
• Collaborate with project teams to align security readiness with deployment schedules.
• Handle special projects as assigned.
