Job summary

City of New York seeks a Cybersecurity Engineer (Network Security) to design and implement defensible security infrastructure for City government. You will identify security gaps across NYC agencies and develop practical solutions to rectify them, contributing to the protection of critical public systems.

The role is part of Cyber Command under the Office of Technology and Innovation, with duties spanning security architecture, tools evaluation, and integration into development lifecycles.

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to projects and policies.
• Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above.

Responsibilities

• Perform security reviews, identify gaps in security architecture, and develop a security risk management plan.
• Design, build, install, configure, and test dedicated cyber defense systems (hardware & software).
• Implement robust Network Security Monitoring/Continuous Security Monitoring solutions.
• Operate and administer cyber defense applications and software.
• Collaborate with both technical and non-technical teams to integrate security controls and procedures into workflows.
• Automate controls and redundant processes whenever possible.
• Liaise with cybersecurity vendors to support procurement of cybersecurity solutions.
• Handle special projects and initiatives as assigned.
