Job summary

The Cybersecurity Engineer (Cloud Security) at NYC Office of Technology and Innovation safeguards the city’s digital infrastructure by integrating, testing, and operating defensive security controls across cloud and on‑prem environments.

You will maintain cloud architectural diagrams and runbooks, document proof‑of‑concept results, and provide clear guidance to agency stakeholders during deployments, while receiving mentorship from senior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and four years of full-time experience related to projects and policies required by the position.
• Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above.

Responsibilities

• Assist in configuring, integrating, and operating defensive security controls across hybrid cloud/on-premises environments.
• Design and implement strategic defensive controls, including cloud-based security solutions.
• Support proof-of-concept evaluations for cloud security tools and document results.
• Maintain cloud architectural diagrams, configuration guides, and runbooks.
• Provide clear communication to agency stakeholders during deployment of security controls.
• Collaborate with project teams to align security readiness with deployment schedules.
• Handle special projects and initiatives as assigned.
