Job summary

NRG Energy in Houston seeks a Cybersecurity Engineer to safeguard systems, cloud workloads, and data. You will identify vulnerabilities, operate security tools, and guide engineering teams on secure configuration and access controls.

You'll support cloud posture across AWS and other providers, perform vulnerability assessments, deploy IDS/IPS, SIEM, and WAF, and help enforce security policies and standards in hybrid environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent relevant work experience.
• 2–5 years of experience in cyber security or related roles, including exposure to cloud environments.
• Hands-on experience operating CSPM/CNAPP platforms (Orca preferred; Wiz, Prisma Cloud, or Defender for Cloud also relevant).
• Knowledge of security tools, technologies, and best practices across enterprise and cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Identify vulnerabilities and risks across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Operate security tools across cloud workloads and on-premises systems.
• Provide security guidance to engineering teams on secure configuration, IAM, encryption, and logging.
