Job summary

NRG Energy in Houston, TX is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to support the design and evolution of secure technology solutions across cloud and network environments. This role focuses on defining security design approaches, establishing standards, and partnering with technology teams to ensure security is embedded into enterprise platforms and services.

You will contribute to security architecture, threat modeling, and risk assessment activities, while promoting common design patterns

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Networking or related field.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in cybersecurity, cloud, and network security disciplines.
• Familiarity with modern infrastructure and cloud environments.
• Working knowledge of security frameworks and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of enterprise security architecture, including guiding principles, reference patterns, and target-state designs
• Provide high-level design guidance on secure cloud and network solutions, including identity, connectivity, and data protection considerations
• Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and application teams to incorporate security requirements into solution design and implementation
• Participate in security architecture reviews and provide recommendations to address potential risks and align with enterprise standards
• Support threat modeling and risk assessment activities to identify and prioritize security considerations
• Help define and promote security standards, design patterns, and best practices across cloud and network domains
• Provide advisory support on security-related topics, including emerging technologies
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of security architecture processes and governance practices
