Job summary

NRG Energy is seeking a Cybersecurity Architect to define security architecture approaches and embed security into enterprise platforms and services. The role collaborates with technology teams to establish standards and reference designs across cloud and network domains.

Responsibilities include reviewing architectures, guiding secure cloud/network solutions, and supporting risk assessment activities to align with enterprise standards. Hybrid or flexible work arrangements are supported.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Networking or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in cybersecurity, cloud, or network security.
• Familiarity with modern infrastructure and cloud environments.
• Working knowledge of security frameworks and best practices.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of enterprise security architecture, including guiding principles, reference patterns, and target-state designs.
• Provide high-level architectural guidance on secure cloud and network solutions, including identity, connectivity, and data protection considerations.
• Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and application teams to incorporate security requirements into solution design and implementation.
• Participate in security architecture reviews and provide recommendations to address potential risks and align with enterprise standards.
• Support threat modeling and risk assessment activities to identify and prioritize security considerations.
• Help define and promote security standards, design patterns, and best practices across cloud and network domains.
• Provide advisory support on security-related topics, including emerging technologies.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of security architecture processes and governance practices.
