Apex Technology, Inc. is seeking a Senior Cloud Security Engineer, AWS GovCloud, to design, implement, and optimize secure cloud environments supporting government missions.

You will ensure compliance with NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, RMF, DoD IL-4/IL-5, and other standards across AWS GovCloud, Azure, and multi-cloud setups. The role emphasizes hands-on cloud security, IAM/RBAC, Zero Trust, vulnerability assessments, and collaboration with DevSecOps to secure CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen or able to obtain required government clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Computer Science, or related field (or 5+ years equivalent professional experience).
• 5–9+ years in cloud security engineering with hands-on work in AWS GovCloud, Azure, Google GCP, or multi-cloud environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills; ability to work in fast-paced, mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure cloud architectures across AWS GovCloud, Azure, and Google Cloud, applying least privilege, encryption, and data protection.
• Maintain compliance with NIST 800-53 Rev. 5, FedRAMP, DoD ILs, RMF, and SCCA requirements.
• Manage IAM, RBAC, JIT access, Key Vaults, and Zero Trust principles across clouds.
• Deploy and optimize cloud-native security tools (Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Azure Sentinel, AWS GovCloud security services, CSPM/CWPP, Elastic SIEM).
• Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and security reviews against STIGs, CIS benchmarks, and NIST controls.
• Develop and maintain SSP, SAR, POA&M, and risk/compliance reporting for cloud operations.
• Lead incident response, IoCs analysis, threat intel, and preventive controls in cloud environments.
• Collaborate with DevSecOps and development teams to integrate security into CI/CD and IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Provide guidance on secure cloud design patterns and best practices.
• On-site availability 5 days a week at our Playa Vista, CA office.
