Job summary

SS8 Networks, Inc. in Milpitas, CA, is seeking a hands-on, player-coach Manager, Cloud Engineering & Operations to lead architecture, engineering, deployment, and continuous improvement of cloud infrastructure across multi-cloud and on‑prem environments.

As a leader, you will own the strategy, drive DevOps/SRE practices, establish reliability metrics, manage a high‑performing team, and partner with Security, Product, and Ops to deliver scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud solutions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, distributed systems, DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Operations.
• 5+ years of engineering management or significant technical leadership experience.
• Experience owning production infrastructure and mission-critical services.
• Strong architecture and design experience with large-scale distributed systems, including Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and engage through architecture reviews and critical engineering initiatives.
• Define operational ownership across Cloud Engineering, Software Engineering, Support, Professional Services, and Security; establish SLIs, SLOs, KPIs.
• Build and mentor a high-performing Cloud Engineering & Operations team; manage hiring, performance, and succession.
• Partner with Security and Product to embed encryption, IAM, secrets management, and vulnerability remediation; track security outcomes.
• Establish proactive capacity planning and optimize cloud consumption without compromising reliability.
