Job summary

North is seeking a technically hands-on engineer to join the Foundations team, shaping the cloud infrastructure that North relies on. You’ll work across infrastructure as code, tooling, and full-stack components to keep systems secure, scalable, and easy to operate.

You will level based on experience, contribute to admin tools, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet North’s cloud and internal tooling goals. This hybrid role is based in New York City with some remote US options.

Qualifications

• 3+ years building and operating production software, including time on-call.
• Full-stack experience with Python backend development.
• Hands-on AWS and infrastructure as code (Terraform).
• Experience building internal/admin tools with attention to permissions.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage the cloud infrastructure North runs on, ensuring availability, resilience, and security.
• Improve developer tooling, CI/CD, local development, and releases to streamline shipping.
• Strengthen observability and incident tooling, and participate in on-call duties.
• Develop the admin dashboard and internal tools used by multiple teams across North, including non-engineering teams.
• Create reliable internal tools with proper access controls and auditability.
• Collaborate with dependent teams to understand their needs for Foundations.
