Job summary

KBX Logistics, a Koch company, is seeking a Cloud Engineer to operate, maintain, and improve the cloud platform that supports our application teams. You will work with senior engineers to implement infrastructure changes, manage IAM and networking, and keep the environment secure and reliable.

The role emphasizes hands-on work with AWS services (EKS, Istio, Gloo, Kafka, Redis), and tooling like Terraform, Helm, and GitHub Actions; collaboration with Software Engineering, DevOps, Security, and IT

Qualifications

• Experience applying AWS concepts such as compute, networking, storage, IAM, and monitoring.
• Experience deploying or supporting containerized apps in Kubernetes (EKS, ingress, service mesh).
• Scripting in Python, PowerShell, or shell with cloud automation focus.
• Familiarity with cloud security, IAM, monitoring, logging, and incident response best practices.
• Ability to use AI-assisted tools for learning, scripting, analysis, and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Build and support AWS infrastructure using established designs, security controls, and change-management practices.
• Work with senior engineers to clarify requirements and technical decisions.
• Maintain, monitor, upgrade, and troubleshoot cloud platform technologies (EKS, Istio, Gloo, Kafka, Redis).
• Use Terraform, Helm, and GitHub Actions to provision infrastructure and deploy platform changes.
• Manage IAM, access, networking, encryption, and secrets using established standards.
• Monitor platform health, respond to alerts, and troubleshoot incidents with application teams.
• Apply tagging standards, support cost reporting, and implement cost-saving changes.
• Investigate issues using docs and operational data; verify work before closing.
• Maintain runbooks and troubleshooting guides; share lessons with the team.
• Build cloud platform skills through hands-on work, training, and certifications.
• Participate in on-call rotation and communicate incident impact.
