Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a Cloud Platform Architect to design and govern our enterprise cloud foundations across GCP, AWS, and Azure. You will establish standards, enable secure, observable platforms, and partner with security and operations teams to ensure compliance and reliability.

You will lead architectural initiatives, mentor engineers, and drive reusable cloud patterns while aligning with our security, observability, and supportability tenets for hybrid and multi‑cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4 years related experience.
• 7+ years of related functional experience.
• Experience across diverse systems in a large corporate setting.
• Project solution architecture experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship management.
• Experience with future technology trends within area of expertise.

Responsibilities

• Design enterprise cloud 'landing zones' with built-in security, governance, and automation.
• Define standards for networking, IAM, logging, monitoring, and platform services.
• Support container-based and cloud-native hosting models across hybrid environments.
• Embed security into cloud platforms using Zero Trust principles and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Promote Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD based provisioning; create reusable templates.
• Provide architectural guidance and mentor teams across the organization.
