Job summary

Booz Allen Hamilton seeks a Network Security Automation Engineer to design and automate secure, cloud-based cyber range networks for DoD missions. You will translate operational and security needs into reusable infrastructure components deploying virtual networks, firewalls, VPNs, and logging, using IaC and CI/CD pipelines.

You’ll collaborate with SMEs and engineers to ensure isolation, troubleshoot issues, and advance cloud automation and software-defined networking capabilities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience with network security or designing IT systems and networks for large commercial enterprises or government agencies.
• 3+ years of experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, network segmentation, boundary protection, or vulnerability assessment.
• Experience designing and securing cloud or enterprise network architectures.
• Experience with Palo Alto, Cisco, or Juniper firewalls.
• Infrastructure as code using AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
• Automation development using TypeScript, Python, PowerShell, Bash, APIs, or orchestration tools.
• Routing, switching, VPNs, security groups, NACs, and traffic inspection experience.
• HS diploma or GED; ability to obtain DoD 8570 IAT Level II within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Design and automate secure, cloud-based cyber range networks.
• Translate requirements into reusable infrastructure components.
• Automate network deployment, firewall integration, and environment teardown.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity SMEs, platform engineers, vendors, and operators.
• Troubleshoot routing, traffic inspection, firewall, and interoperability issues.
