Job summary

Penta Research seeks a skilled Cloud Network Engineer to design, implement, and operate secure, high‑performance networks across on‑premise data centers and cloud environments. You will work primarily at customer sites in Huntsville, ensuring secure inter‑domain connectivity and policy enforcement.

Key focus areas include SDN and hardware‑defined networking, container‑native networking with Kubernetes, and hybrid cloud integrations. Strong Linux, CNI, and IaC experience are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing restricted/compliant networks and secure inter-enclave communication.
• Hands-on with cloud networking services (VPCs, VNets, peering, transit gateways).
• Experience with Linux OS and network troubleshooting.
• Practical knowledge of multicast/broadcast UDP traffic handling.
• Experience with both software-defined and hardware-defined networking.
• Direct experience in Kubernetes networking, including CNI plugins.
• Ability to design secure routing across domains or enclaves.
• Familiarity with container mesh architectures and service meshes (Istio/Linkerd).
• Knowledge of cloud-to-cloud routing and hybrid cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy secure networks across cloud and on-premise resources.
• Build and manage cloud networking infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Configure and troubleshoot multicast UDP and broadcast UDP traffic for high-throughput apps.
• Deploy and maintain SDN platforms and hardware network appliances.
• Integrate network services with Kubernetes using CNI plugins and container-based networking.
• Connect remote cloud instances to on-premise data centers with optimized routing and latency.
• Support hybrid cloud architectures and enclave connectivity.
• Automate provisioning and changes with IaC (Terraform, Ansible).
• Develop documentation, runbooks, and knowledge bases for network solutions.
• Collaborate with security, DevOps, and application teams on access policies and rules.
