Job summary

Karsun Solutions is seeking an experienced Solution Architect to lead application modernization and cloud-native architectures for US government clients. The role requires balancing strategic roadmaps with hands-on architectural work and evangelizing modern development practices, including AI-assisted tooling.

The ideal candidate will drive consensus across stakeholders, design scalable APIs, ensure secure, compliant architectures, and mentor engineering teams as part of a broader modernization

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field; MS preferred.
• 10+ years of software architecture and development experience with modern, cloud-native architectures.
• 7+ years designing microservices, RESTful APIs, event-driven systems at enterprise scale.
• 5+ years cloud architecture experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP) including Docker/Kubernetes, serverless, and cloud-native development.
• Strong coding skills in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Node, GraphQL, Java, Python, or C#.
• Experience building consensus across technical and business stakeholders, including executive leadership.
• Ability to develop multi-year technology roadmaps and gain buy-in for transformative initiatives.
• Expert knowledge of API design, API management, integration patterns, and service mesh.
• Deep understanding of security architecture (OAuth, OIDC, SAML) and federal compliance (FISMA, FedRAMP).
• Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD, IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation), automated testing, deployment automation.
• Exceptional communication, presentation, and leadership; mentoring senior engineers and architects.

Responsibilities

• Define and articulate the technical vision and multi-year modernization roadmap.
• Lead the design and implementation of cloud-native architectures with microservices.
• Drive consensus across cross-functional teams including architects, SMEs, and IT stakeholders.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership by writing code and building prototypes.
• Champion AI-assisted development tools to improve SDLC productivity and code quality.
• Design API strategies and integration architectures for the agency's ecosystem.
• Establish security architecture principles and ensure federal compliance.
• Partner with SRE to architect DevSecOps pipelines and CI/CD automation.
• Present strategies and roadmaps to leadership, translating tech into business value.
• Mentor architects and senior engineers to foster technical excellence.
