Job summary

MetLife’s Global Technology team is seeking a Software Development Engineer to build and operate cloud-based applications using infrastructure as code. You will contribute to a global cloud platform, focusing on secure, scalable solutions and continuous improvement.

The role combines development and operations in a hybrid setup, with a minimum in-office presence in Cary, NC. A salary range of $70,000–$90,000 per year is offered, plus eligibility for annual incentives and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of overall experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent degree type.
• Proven experience in software development with Node.js and React.
• Proven experience in building secure REST APIs and integrating with various platforms.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong problem-solving and algorithmic thinking.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines to deploy to Azure services; Agile methodology; API integration.

Responsibilities

• Integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code.
• Understand and work with internal and external APIs.
• Experience with Node.js and Express.js.
• Implement CI/CD to build and deploy Node.js applications.
• Deliver secure, scalable solution architectures in Agile environments.
• Create and maintain Terraform configurations for cloud migrations to Azure landing zones.
