Job summary

HUB International is seeking a Software Architect to lead the design and delivery of cloud-native backend services and microservices. You will translate business needs into scalable technical solutions, driving alignment between business stakeholders and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field.
• 8+ years of software development experience with Python as the primary language.
• 2+ years in a similar architect, tech lead, or equivalent role.
• Mandatory hands-on cloud experience in Azure and/or AWS — production-grade cloud-native architecture.
• Experience engaging directly with business stakeholders to drive and refine technical requirements.
• Strong understanding of Python ecosystem tools: FastAPI or Django, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic, Celery, pytest.
• Experience designing and building scalable backend APIs and microservices.
• Experience leading Agile/Scrum teams.

Responsibilities

• Produce high quality, maintainable, and scalable Python-based software.
• Translate business needs into technical architecture from discovery to delivery.
• Collaborate with product managers and domain experts to surface requirements.
• Lead architecture, design, development, and implementation of cloud-native backend services and microservices.
• Design cloud-native systems emphasizing scalability, resilience, observability, and cost efficiency on Azure and/or AWS.
• Champion agentic AI workflows and automation pipelines.
• Articulate constraints to non-technical stakeholders and negotiate tradeoffs.
• Decompose architecture into actionable tasks for developers.
• Maintain coding standards and lead peer code reviews.
• Ensure architecture and coding standards across the project lifecycle.
• Stay current on cloud-native innovations and AI tooling.
